For 3 to 4 hours after surgery, your mouth will be numb from the anaesthetic. Before this wears off, take your first dose of pain analgesics. Generally, the best form of pain relief is Nurofen.x 2 every 3 ½ to 4 hours. If more pain relief is needed, combining 2 x Panadiene (soluble ones are available) with the 2 x Nurofen works extremely well. If you require something to help you sleep, substitute the Panadiene for Mersyndol. Should greater pain relief be required, contact your Dentist.
As the days pass and pain is less, reduce the amount of analgesics taken. After 4 days very little pain relief is normally required.
